1. AIM
The aim of this guidance is to give guidelines for using the NordicHub logo. With this guidance can be protected the use and the ownership of the logo and make sure that the logo terms are disclosed in an open and reliable manner in order to avoid any possible misunderstanding and misuse of the logo.
2. CONTENT
The document contains detailed instructions on how to use the NordicHub logo, its rules, and guidelines about
- who controls and owns the logo
- who has the right to use the NordicHub logo and in which situations
- how should the logo be presented (in printed and published form)
- in which situations the logo can be used in the product
3. LOGO OWNERSHIP AND USE OF THE
The NordicHub logo is a patented trademark and its external use must always be authorized. The logo was designed by Charlotta Alen, a former employee of Viexpo and a former NordicHub Project Manager. Julia Ruotsi, a former employee of Viexpo and a former NordicHub Project Manager, has made minor changes to the logo.
The use of the logo is supervised by the co-operative Viexpo (Business ID: 0198452-3, Runeberginkatu 11, 68600 Pietarsaari/ Wolffintie 35 A, 65200 Vaasa, Finland). Viexpo also owns and manages the access rights of the logo. Permissions and other directives for using the logo can be handled by Viexpo itself or by a working team selected by it. Viexpo or its selected working team is required to keep and update the register of all the users of the logo who have a license to use the logo in their products or in some other context.
Unauthorized use of the logo is prohibited and Viexpo or its working team have the right to interfere with the misuse of the logo. If necessary, unauthorized use of the logo may lead to legal consequences. Use of logo may also be charged if so decided.
3.1. Use of the logo
The NordicHub logo can be used as it is or in situations and documents that, for example, raise the awareness of the region of Ostrobothnia or the Nordics. The logo can be also used, for example in tourism marketing, material produced to inform and marketing the NordicHub, project applications, demonstration materials, collaborative documents and/or teaching materials using the NordicHub thinking. The NordicHub thinking means the developing of cross-border networks and ecosystem thinking, utilizing the natural link between Ostrobothnia and the Nordics, and the Nordic quality, trust, and shorter negotiations.More detailed trademark terms and guidelines (for the purpose of clarifying the use of the logo and the terms, for example, in the marketing of companies and in products (goods or services)) are coming.
There are two different alternatives of the NordicHub logo: white and blue. The logo must be printed so that the white logo should be used on a colored background and the blue logo on a white background. Below the logo, you can attach the text NORDICHUB and Natural link from the Nordics to the world script to Times New Roman (text size: 12/10). When using the NordicHub logo, the financiers’ logos must always be used when it comes to a project, ie. when NordicHub is funded through the project. NordicHub is currently funded by the Regional Council of Ostrobothnia Ostrobothnia (Pohjanmaan liitto). The NordicHub logo can be used as it is or it can be reduced or enlarged when needed. However, the logo should be readily readable. The template, shapes, colors, proportions, and texts of the logo may not be edited or altered. The correct colors for the logo are shown below.

3.1. User groups
There are four user groups of the logo
Group A – Collaboration partners. All organizations or associations belonging to NordicHub’s collaboration partners are authorized to use the logo in all activities that promote the ecosystem and network thinking. Users must report forehand about the use of the logo to Viexpo or a working team selected by it.
Group B- Other authorities and partners (eg. regional authorities, municipalities, non-profit associations, and organizations), that promote the ecosystem and networking thinking of NordicHub. The logo can be only used for contexts that are linked in NordicHub and Ostrobothnia region.
Group C- Companies and others operating in the Ostrobothnia region and offering products (goods or services) in the Ostrobothnia region and in the Nordics.
Group C may include, for example, the following types of logo users:
- Certified Ostrobothnian Travel Guides (World Heritage Guides)
- companies and other associations that offer products (goods or services) in or around Ostrobothnia and in the Nordics
- other actors in the Ostrobothnia region and in the Nordics
Group D – Organizations and other institutions willing to support or market the NordicHub tinking and/or the Ostrobothnia region and the Nordics.

3.3. Terms of acceptance use of the logo
Before printing, publishing or other use of the NordicHub logo, a business, organization or private person must obtain formal approval from Viexpo or a working team selected by it. The task of Viexpo or its working team is to control that applicants have submitted a mandatory written notification of the use of the logo and that the requirements for the use and presentation of the logo are respected.
Applicants from Group B have the right to use the logo, subject to their obligation to comply with the requirements and terms of this guideline.
Applicants from Group C must leave a written notice of the use of the logo indicating the purpose of the use. Applicants must undertake to comply with the requirements and terms of this guideline. More detailed trademark terms and guidelines (for the purpose of clarifying the use of the logo and the terms, for example, in the marketing of companies and in products (goods or services)) are coming.
Applicants from Group D must notify in writing of the context in which the logo is used, and agree to comply with the requirements and terms of this guideline.

3.4. Logo fees
Viexpo or its working team decide on a rule concerning the logo fees.
3.5. Settling conflicts
Conflicts arising out of the use of the NordicHub logo are generally solved by Viexpo or a working team selected by it. If necessary, the conflict may lead to legal consequences.
